BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Workers at Roswell Park Cancer Institute are taking a brave step to show support for their patients. About 70 professionals at Roswell Park are sporting a new haircut.
The workers either cut their hair or shaved their heads as part of the annual Goin' Bald Together fundraiser. They gathered pledges that will directly benefit research and patient care at Roswell. Staff members want to show patients they are with them every step of the way.
Lake Shore Central High School teacher Anthony George said, "The reality is there are thousands, if not tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people in Western New York who want to do the same thing. They have loved ones who are struggling with cancer and are really at a loss as what to do. Right here behind me is what you can do. You can go Bald For Bucks and help Roswell Park find a cure for cancer."
The money raised this year is expected to total more than $50,000.
