RIDGEWAY, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office says a family dog attacked a man while he was in a verbal altercation with his wife Tuesday night. According to police, the incident happened around 10:20 p.m. between a 30-year-old man and his 38-year-old wife.
Police say that during the verbal altercation, a two-and-a-half -year-old male pit bull terrier attacked the man. The man suffered bites to the arm and face, and was taken by ambulance to ECMC for treatment. He was released early Wednesday morning.
While the man’s wife attempted to get the dog away from her husband, she sustained injuries to her right forearm. She refused medical attention from first responders, according to police.
The couple’s 11-year-old daughter, who called 911 at the time of the incident, had no interaction with the dog.
The dog was taken by Orleans County Animal Control. According to the woman involved in the incident, the dog was not licensed but did have a current rabies vaccination.
