BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday.  The shooting occurred in the 400 Block of Minnesota Avenue near Bailey Avenue, and claimed two lives.

A 23-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were shot around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday. They were brought to ECMC and died a short time later.

Buffalo Police had Minnesota Avenue cordoned off for some time, as police worked to find evidence, working to learn exactly what happened.

One of the victim’s friends gathered at the scene Tuesday.  They work for Buffalo Transportation and say the woman, who was shot and killed, worked for the company as well.

“Whatever led up to this is just sad, and it’s a real tragic event.” The victim’s friend Demetrius Moore said, “It’s hurtful. She was a tremendous, good person.”

Another friend of the woman, Thomas Fields, said dealing with the loss is tough. “We were close friends and I had talked to her a couple of hours before this happened.”

Anyone with information on the shootings is asked to contact the Buffalo Police confidential tipline at 847-2255.
