AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Election day will also bring a major vote for the Town of Amherst.
Downsizing advocate Kevin Gaughan went door-to-door Saturday in Amherst.
Residents will decide whether or not to reduce their town board from 7 to 5 members.
Gaughan says the recent census shows the population in the town is falling.
Gaughan said, "The only way we're going to reverse that is stop losing jobs, stop losing population and most important losing our young people is to reduce the size and cost of government andthat is the opportunity that Amherst residents have this Tuesday."
On Tuesday, Erie County residents will also vote whether to downsize the County's legislature.
Gaughan says the average County Legislature in America has 7 members.
Erie County has 15.
