Driver admits to vehicular assault, DWI

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Cheektowaga woman admits to driving drunk during a crash that seriously injured a young man from Orchard Park. The May crash happened on South Union Road and Wehrle Drive.

The District Attorney’s Office says 35-year-old Kory Shaunessy ran a red light, struck the passenger side of a vehicle and caused serious physical injury to 23-year-old Travis Wass. Shaunessy pleaded guilty to first-degree vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. Shaunessy was also convicted of DWI in 2003.

Shaunessy faces a maximum prison sentence of two years and three months to seven years in prison.
