BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A bizarre scene played out on the 198 Saturday afternoon. According to witnesses a car hit a light pole sending it crashing into the middle of the road.

After the crash, the car took off. A passing motorist saw the whole thing happen and quickly moved the pole from the busy roadway.

"So I pulled around the corner, and the guy took off and it was laying in the street so I just took the pole out of the street and called police. Interesting in a way, the guy left the scene. He just took off, with everyone leaving the scene now a days you know someone could've gotten hurt if you left the pole in the middle of the street," says Tom Kurzdorfer.

There are no reported injuries and no word on if police have caught the person responsible.
