BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Drivers who are heading out the door Tuesday morning will want to remember, more kids are going to be out and about either catching the bus or walking to school. Please take it slow and plan some extra time.
Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Richards said, “You forget the fact of the laws of motion and how fast you're going and how long it takes you to stop. I mean these vehicles aren't meant to stop on a dime.”
Buffalo Schools’ Director of Transportation Al Diamico said, “We cannot make a mistake in this industry, we are not transporting packages, we're transporting children and the lives that accompany them. It's all about safety."
Experts recommend adding about five extra minutes to your commute as the new school year begins.
