BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Sources say a woman has died after being shot in the head Wednesday morning, in a building at ECMC.

The shooting happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Miller Building on the ECMC campus. Crews are searching for the shooter.

According to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, the victim and the shooter may have had a relationship.

Police are searching for the person of interest Dr. Timothy Jorden. He is described as a 49-year-old man, who is 6'2" and 250 pounds. Authorities were searching in the Lakeview area Wednesday afternoon.

People on the scene, who are speaking with people inside the building, tell News 4’s Lou Raguse that the person who was killed was a hospital worker.

ECMC has since re-opened all buildings except the Miller Building. Normal operations have resumed.

Statement from Buffalo Public Schools, on schools in surrounding area:

Following an incident inside Erie County Medical Center early this morning, the Buffalo Public School District is following emergency procedures at schools in the surrounding area.  Police officers have patrolled the buildings and have a presence in the area surrounding the schools.  School administration is in contact with district administration and law enforcement for further guidance.

The district is confident that every effort is being made to ensure the safety of our students and staff at this time.
