AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - The morning commute took a nasty turn in Amherst, when a Jeep collided with a school bus and an SUV around 7:30 a.m.. Police say the Jeep may have ran a stop sign on Cardinal Drive and collided with the bus on Segsbury Road. The Jeep then crashed into a parked SUV, and the bus slammed into a tree.
The bus was headed to Saint Gregory the Great School with 12 students on board. Two of them, 12 and 13-year-old girls, were taken to the hospital with head injuries.
Amherst Police Captain Patrick McKenna said, “ The Department of Transportation will be doing an inspection of the bust to verify everything was in good working order there. We’re going to inspect the Jeep and continue with our investigation.”
The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
