BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - An event in Buffalo aimed to inspire a fresh perspective on expanding the City's waterfront.
Dozens pitched ideas at the Imagining Buffalo's Waterfront conference.
The goal of the project is to bring a new and different approach on how to use the land.
Organizers encouraged people to first think of concepts rather than projects.
Fred Kent, President of Project for Public Spaces said, "What a lot of waterfronts have are these sort of waterfront markets. They obviously have a lot of restaurants."
Kent added, "As we keep saying: lighter, quicker, cheaper. You can do these in three months, in six months. And you can get them going. You can experiment with them. You can do them cheaply and you can have a big economic impact."
Kent says some of the most successful waterfront projects in America are ones that have created hundreds of jobs.
Kent added that Buffalo has more potential to develop its waterfront than any other City in the world.
