VILLAGE OF ALFRED, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two people were taken to the hospital after an explosion sparked a massive blaze at the Rose Apartments in the Village of Alfred.

The blast tore through the Glen Street building at approximately 5:10 p.m. Sunday.  The Alfred Fire Department responded to the scene along with several other emergency units from surrounding areas.

According to Village Police, the two people taken to the hospital did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The building has 40, one-bedroom units.  It's unclear at this time how many people lived in the building.
