NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - All over the city of Niagara Falls, local businesses are gearing up for Nik Wallenda's big walk over the Falls.
With under two weeks to go, some stores are trying to capitalize on all the buzz.
Players Sports Bar has dubbed themselves the “Unofficial Tight Rope Walkers Association of the World Headquarters” and are betting on plenty of people visiting before and after the event.
“Between the hotels and this bar and I think the casino, everybody will be moving around quite a bit and we'll get a lot of business out of it,” said the bar’s manager Bill Ryan. “We need something like this more often to generate some business for everybody.”
If you're into something a bit sweeter, Honeymoon Sweets Chocolates is paying homage to daredevils past and present.
“We're doing chocolate barrels with Annie Edson Taylor and we're doing Niagara Falls Daredevil bars that are going to have a tight rope walker on it,” said Mary Anne Hess.
The Daredevil bars will cost you $10, but it is for a good cause. A portion of the proceeds from the nearly half pound chocolate bar will be donated to the food bank.
If you're in the mood for something hearty, the Marketside Restaurant is serving a Wallenda omelette with all the fixings. The omelette, complete with zucchini, peppers and onions, is set atop a bed of linguine, which serves as a tight rope.
Nik Wallenda has not had ,but Mike Poletti of the Marketside Restaurant said the tightrope walker says he is going to have one the morning of the stunt.
With tens-of thousands expected in the Cataract City June 15th, you can bet plenty more Wallenda omelettes will be served up.
