Fatal farming accident in Shelby

SHELBY, N.Y. (WIVB) - (RELEASE) A man is dead following a farming accident Sunday afternoon in the Town of Shelby.

The incident occured at approximately 4:40 PM in the field off the 4000 block of Taylor Hill Road.

The deceased farm worker was lying on the ground underneath a flat-bed truck.  It is believed that he may have been taking a nap.

Another worker moved the truck without realizing the deceased was underneath.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orleans County Coroner.

Determining the identity of the deceased has been difficult due to his questionable immigration status.

The driver of the truck is identified as Armando Luna-Castillo,59, of Albion.

The incident remains under investigation by the Orleans County Sheriff's Office and the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office.
