BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Fathers Organization held their Toys for Joy event at the Dr. Lydia T. Wright School of Excellence Saturday.
President of Fathers, Leonard Lane says, "Today is not only about joy and giving toys away to so many families in this community, but it's about love because we know that so many of our children need love and a lot of times they don't get that in our community."
The Fathers Organization also made a banner they signed that will be sent to Newtown, Connecticut.
To be eligible, an application needed to be filled out through the Fathers Organization. They also invited families to come.
Many who came to the event were grateful for the organization and community coming together to do something special during the holiday season.
Donations came from the community and local businesses like the Walden Galleria and the John Danforth Company.
