BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The finger licking excitement is bringing droves of chicken wing fans into downtown Buffalo Sunday night.

It's all about the gluttony here, we are live from the 10th Annual Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival in downtown Buffalo. We watched as about a dozen eaters mowed their way through hundreds of wings, in the signature event, the wing eating contest.

Hundreds watched and cheered as some of the world's most well knows competitive eaters squared off.

The goal: devour as many Buffalo wings as possible in twelve minutes.

As it has in past years, it really came down to an eat-off between Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas and Joey Chestnut.

James Pennacchio said, "I want the big tongue guy to win. He's going to lose."

And in the end, the "Black Widow" prevailed. Sonya Thomas set a new World Record by gobbling 6.43 lbs or 183 individual wings.

Chestnut finished, not too far behind, with 174 wings.

Visitors came for the food but stayed for the fun.

"The people watching and this contest," was Williams Davis' favorite part.

Pennacchio added, "I'm going to get all different kinds of wings and varieties."

"I'll have to get one of those chicken hats that everyone has on," added Ben McKiernan.
