NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - In Niagara Falls, questions are swirling surrounding a late-night fire that erupted at a mobile home park.
It's still unclear what caused a fire at a mobile home park that's been the site of controversy for almost a year now. Tuesday night a fire ripped through the business office at the troubled Sabre Mobile Home Park in the Town of Niagara.
Niagara Active Hose Fire Company Chief Dan Hosie said, “Mostly one office. A lot of heat damage throughout the entire building.”
Hosie said, “Well when I say $100,000 in damage, I’m talking about room and contents, and everything that's involved. There's office equipment inside.”
Fortuantely no one was hurt and the flames were put out quickly, but the fire could fuel an already heated situation.
In August of last year, residents of the mobile home park found notices on their doors informing them the park they live in was sold to the owners of the Fashion Outlets, so a new strip mall could go up. The residents were told at some point they would have to move out.
Tuesday morning there's still a lot of questions to be answered, like what specific records were destroyed and will it impact residents living there in an already tense situation.
