KENMORE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Authorities are investigating what sparked a costly school bus fire in Kenmore early Monday morning.
The Ken Ton School District is without one of their buses to take students to school Monday, because it was consumed in a fire. Firefighters were called out to the Ken Ton bus garage on Military Road around 1 a.m. Monday. They say a blaze began in the back of the school bus garage.
Sheridan Park Fire Department Assistant Chief Shawn Kauffman said, "When we got on location, we found that one bus was fully involved and there were two exposure buses. One of the buses is a total loss, the other two are okay."
Kauffman said, "Yeah they just had exposure damage, some heat damage, a couple mirrors and stuff like that."
Investigators say the fire caused about $50,000 of damage to three buses. Firefighters acted quickly and had the flames under control in about ten minutes. The fire is out, but investigators will be spending the morning searching for a cause.
Kauffman said, "Right now, it's under investigation, doesn't appear to be suspicious though."
No one was injured in the blaze.
