LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) - A huge crew made a young boy's wish come true Saturday in Niagara county.
Five-year old Jonathan wanted to be a fireman.
Thanks to the Wendelville, South Lockport, Terry Corners and Rapids Fire Companies a little boy got to get the same fire training the big boys do and even take the seat of a helicopter.
The Make-a-Wish Foundation coordinated all this for Jonathan, who has a rare form of epilepsy.
His parents and the volunteers were thrilled for him.
Jonathan's mom, Rebecca Wery said, "He's very happy. He's a very happy little boy, and he's been smiling since he got here."
"So much that is happening today, it's over-impressed me. It's all so great," added Jonathan's dad Daryl Wery.
Shawn Christman of the Wendelville Fire Company said, "It's always nice to not be going to an EMS call or a fire and seeing the homeowner at their worst. Here it's - we can bring some happiness to people and make 'em as happy as possible."
Jonathan's training was followed by a special, private dinner and award ceremony where he received a fireman's badge and certification making him an official Niagara County Fire Department member.
