BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - There isn't a whole lot of snow right now in some areas of Western New York, but high winds overnight left thousands without power.
Crews worked all night to turn the power back on for most in the Buffalo area, however for those in the Midwest, it's a different story.
The first major blizzard of the winter season is slamming 16 hitting states in the Midwest and crews are having some trouble clearing the roads.
Travel risks became more hazardous as wet snow sent cars sliding off the road in Nebraska, and a major high way in Iowa shut down after a 25 car pileup.
Off the ground, more than 1,000 flights have already been delayed. Some of the cities affected by the blizzard include: New York, Newark, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.
For current cancellations at the Buffalo Airport, check on the traffic link.
