BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Sabres are back and are finally starting the season with their first home game on Sunday, January 20th against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Here are some things to know if you are one of the many fans going to the game:
•Doors at First Niagara Center will open at 10:15 a.m. Sunday for the 12:30 p.m. puck drop. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to ensure smooth entry into the arena and parking lots.
•The Sabres Store will be open at 9 a.m. Sunday and will be offering its Fan Appreciation Sale through the duration of the game. The sale offers fans a 50% discount on all merchandise in the store.
•Two lucky fans, Nancy Saia of Williamsville and James Kretz of Tonawanda, will drop a ceremonial puck prior to Sunday’s game to officially open the Sabres’ 2012-13 season. Saia, a Sabres season-ticket holder, and Kretz, a member of the Blue & Gold Club, were both selected at random to participate in the pregame ceremony.
•Throughout Sunday’s game, First Niagara Center concession stands will be offering family-friendly pricing on concession items. Items include: a hot dog and potato chip combo for $3; popcorn for $1; souvenir Sabres beverage cup (and soda) for $4.25; and peanuts for $2.
Fans are reminded that Saturday will be the last day of the team’s training camp and the public is invited to attend the final practice session, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
