BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Robin Tolsma, who lost her husband Darren in the flight 3407 crash, let us into her Lancaster home this morning.

We sat on her couch, listening to a conference call, as the FAA and transportation officials announced the final pilot rule.

Robin described today as a bitter sweet day.

At first Robins face lit up when transportation secretary Ray LaHood said "we are celebrating a landmark," by making the skies safer.

When Robin heard the new rule would make sure pilot got more rest, she whispered to me this is a great day.

Robin, and the other 3407 victims' families have been fighting for tougher regulations the crash in Clarence Center that killed 50 people and an unborn child.

The NTSB ruled that pilot fatigue was a factor.

Robin says she feels like today's announcement is an early Christmas present. And while she knows it won't bring her husband back, she hopes it will prevent other families from experiencing similar heartbreak.

It might take a couple of years until the rules are implemented and Robin says she will keep fighting until the new regulations become a reality.
