PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WIVB) - Several years ago, a then 15-year old Alicia Guastaferro, was a controversial beauty pageant queen on the TV show, "Wife Swap."
Now, the 21-year-old faces several charges including: prostitution, drug possession, and criminal impersonation.
She was arrested in August at a thruway Travel Plaza after State Troopers responded to a complaint of a man driving radically. Troopers say they found Guastaferro and Rochester Attorney James Doyle, slumped over in a running car.
Initially, Guasteferro gave police a false name. She later was questioned and told police Doyle paid her between $500 and $700 for sex and that he would call her a couple times a month.
Doyle denies the allegations.
Rochester Attorney, James Doyle who is facing DWI and Patronizing a Prostitute charges says, "I have no doubt that clearly in a court of law there is going to be no finding of any illicit activity in that regard whatsoever, in truth or reality,"
Guastaferro was only in court for about a minute. She waived her right to have her charges read, but did enter of plea of not guilty.
Guastaferro and her parents are no strangers to the courtroom. The family sued ABC for $100 million dollars in 2010 citing mental distress from her appearance on the show. The lawsuit was settled out of court.
Her father is now serving a 2-year sentence for money laundering and her mother was given 3-years probation for paying employees off the books.
Alicia is also a plaintiff in another pending lawsuit against the owners of several strip clubs where she worked.
Doyle is charged with drunk driving and patronizing a prostitute; he will be in court next month.
Guastaferro will be next in court December 11th.
