Family and friends gather to mourn ECMC victim

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Family and friends of Jacqueline Wisniewski gathered inside St. Martin of Tours Church in South Buffalo to pay the beloved mother and aspiring nurse an emotional farewell.

"It was extremely emotional," said friend Gretchen Moran. "Heartbreaking. You could feel it the moment you stepped into the church -- just how much pain and sorrow."

"Just knowing her, knowing she was a single mom -- I'm a single mom -- it just kind of hit home pretty hard," said Jessica Hazard a friend of Wisniewski.

A letter Wisniewski penned to her five-year-old son, Joe, moved the crowd to tears.

"She went through a couple pages of just sharing memories with him; telling him over and over how much she loved him; how he was her life, and how she believes in him and knows that he can do anything." said Moran.

But neither the service, nor the death of Dr. Timothy Jorden, are enough to bring closure.

"I think he's a coward," said Katie Kohr.  "If you were going to kill yourself, kill yourself. Why did you have to take Jackie's life? Her poor son has no mommy. That just breaks my heart."

Jorden's body was discovered Friday morning by two New York State parole officers in a wooded ravine near his Lakeview home and 18-Mile Creek.

Police have been able to piece together some of his actions both before and after Wisniewski's death.

Police believe Dr. Jorden had a 17-minute-long phone conversation with Wisniewski. Following that he was able to lure her into a stairway in the Miller Building at ECMC. Inside, he shot her five times at close range.

After the shooting, police say Jorden returned home.  He then left out the back door towards a heavily-wooded area and into the ravine where his body was later found.
