BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Gas prices are once again on the rise. The price for gas in western New York has jumped 10 cents a gallon over the last week.

Gas prices in California are even worse where prices have risen by 23 cents a gallon over the last week. This spike in prices comes after the Energy Department says US households spent an average of over $2,900 on gasoline in 2012, almost four percent of their pre-tax income, the highest percentage in 30 years.
News 4 talked to some workers in the landscaping business who say that as gas prices rise, so does the cost they must pass along to their customers.
“The prices got to go up, everything is related, landscaping depends on the gas prices because everything you're always using, mowers and things that obviously run on gas, so if the gas goes up the prices will have to go up for the customers too,” explained one western New Yorker in the landscaping business.
What makes the rise in gas prices even tougher for businesses such as landscaping and plow drivers is the fact they often have to use larger vehicles that may only get 10 to 12 miles per gallon.
