GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) - Approximately 50-75 homes in a Grand Island neighborhood woke up with no water Thursday morning.
Seven men from the Grand Island Water Department worked outside for nine hours fixing a cracked pipe. Gary Seifert was amongst the crew that spent the entire night outside working to fix the water main break. He said they were out there for so long they couldn’t feel the pain any longer and got used to the frigid temperatures.
What should've been a simple routine task was long and drawn out as a result of the weather conditions. The cracked pipe was fixed later Thursday morning and the water service was restored to homes.
