Group wants to replant 30,000 trees

BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Western New Yorkers are branching out to restore the trees lost in the October storm of 2006.

Today, re-tree Western New York announced the "Green Leaf Campaign" to re-forest Buffalo and the surrounding towns hit by the surprise storm.

The goal is to eventually plant 30,000 new trees. The Buffalo News is pitching in.

The public is welcome to attend tree-training sessions on Oct 24th at the Park School on Harlem Rd and again on Oct 31st at Delaware Park.

A massive tree planting effort will begin next month.
