HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - The Hamburg School District’s debate over teacher evaluations has hit an impasse, and a fortune in state funding hangs in the balance.
Thursday, time will run out for the Hamburg School District and the Teacher’s Union. The deadline to come up with an approved deal is at noon.
If their talks from Tuesday night are any indication that will be able to come to an agreement, it’s not looking good. Negotiations ended in a standstill, with no deal reached.
What’s at stake for the school district is about $450,000 in additional aid from the state. Leaders from the Hamburg Teachers Association say the impasse occurred after a district administrator told some staff that their jobs could be affected if the plan was not approved.
The current Hamburg school budget is approximately $56 million. Hamburg is one of the only districts in the state that has not submitted a plan to the state.
The deadline for the approved deal is noon Thursday.
