BUFFALO, N.Y (WIVB) - Drivers who want the closest parking spot on gameday, should remember the rules concerning spots reserved for people with disabilities.
The Erie County Sheriff put everyone on notice that more than 400-handicapped permits have been confiscated at the stadium over the past decade.
The Sheriff's Office focuses on this issue for the safety of drivers who really need the parking spots.
Frank Cammara from the Erie County Office of the Disabled says, " It's about, equal opportunities for those who have a disability allowing them to park and have access to the stadium without having to walk or travel too far."
For the first time, violators face a fine of $50 or more for misuse of a handicap parking permit, or illegally parking in a reserved spot.
