Hochul & Collins reach out to voters

BUFFALO, N.Y (WIVB) - The race for the 27th Congressional District is coming down to the wire.

Election Day is tomorrow, making today the final push for the candidates to convince people to get out and vote.

It's the last day before the general election and Congresswoman Kathy Hochul and former Erie County Executive Chris Collins are trying to gain as much support as possible.

Hochul stopped by Panera Bread in Orchard Park to greet potential voters.

Hochul says leading up to the election she'll be out in the community making sure her voters know what she stands for.

Rep. Hochul says, "That message is out there that they want someone independent who does not vote straight party lines, works with both sides and that's why I feel good. So, as many people that I can meet, that's what I'll be doing in the final hours."

Collins was also out campaigning today.

Since we couldn't catch up with Collins in Canandaigua, we met up with one of his advisors, Chris Grant at his Lancaster Headquarters.

Grant says the congressional candidate is focused on spreading his message.

Collins advisor, Chris Grant says, "He's out talking to voters about the issues they care about. Repairing Obamacare and getting this economy moving again. So it's a big district of 51 hundred square miles."

The latest Siena poll shows that Collins has a one percent lead over Hochul among likely voters.

After all is said and done, tomorrow the power will be in the voters hands.
