BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Believe it or not, we're only about a month away from the start of the Sabres' preseason.

But Sunday, it was hockey time outside HSBC Arena as kids took to the streets for the second day of the Sabres' street hockey fest.

More than one thousand boys and girls ages 5 to 17 squared off in the team's first ever two day event.

Sabres PR Director Michael Gilbert said, "Last year, we had 180 teams in one day and we just wanted to make it bigger so we added 30 teams, we split it up into two days, so we're able to get more kids involved and playing and so it's a nice weekend for everybody."

An 18 and older street hockey tournament will take place sometime next month.

Details are still being finalized.
