House Speaker Boehner visits Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Republican Congressional Candidate Chris Collins held a rally on Super Saturday for his supporters in Lancaster, driving home his message with exactly one month to go before the election.

"Today under Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi; what is our future? We don't have one," says Collins.

Collins pulled out the big guns by having Speaker of the House John Boehner campaign and help raise funds both in Lancaster and at a private breakfast in Clarence.

Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner says, "Chris understands what it takes to build a business, understands what it takes to get our economy going again, and understands that if we're going to get the American people back to work. We need to have a stronger economy; We need real solid policies coming out of Washington D.C."

Congresswoman Hochul says she isn't worried about Speaker Boehner's endorsement. He was also here for her then challenger Jane Corwin, during the special election. Hochul also says that she and Boehner should both be back in Washington.

Hochul says, "Speaker Boehner is the one person that's got the power to take us back; We have a lot of unfinished business. Believe it or not, we left town without finishing work on a five-year farm bill extension."

She continues to say, "We should not be back here. In fact, this is the earliest that congress has been sent back to the districts to campaign since 1960. I think it's disgraceful, and here Speaker Boehner is campaigning when the farmers are saying get back to Washington and do your job. I couldn't agree more."

The newly formed District is heavily Republican which should benefit the former Erie County Executive. Congresswoman Hochul believes her bipartisan stance on many issues will sway votes her way.

But it will be voters who will make that decision November 6.

We invite you to join us October 17th for a debate between Chris Collins and Congresswoman Kathy Hochul.

The debate will air at 10:30 on our sister station, CW-23.
