KENNEDY, NY (WIVB) - The U.S. Postal Service has decided to cut back service hours at one Southern Tier branch as a cost-cutting move.
The financially crippled postal service is restructuring and will eventually have the postmaster in Randolph responsible for Kennedy operations
According to the Jamestown Post Journal the money the Kennedy post office takes in from sales of stamps and other services has been steadily decreasing. In 2010 sales totaled $65,000, in 2011 it was $61,000 and to date for 20112 it is just $53,000 with only several weeks to go in the year.
The proposed new hours for window service would be 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday window service would remain 10 a.m. to noon.
The cutbacks would take effect in late January or early February
