LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Firefighters in Lackwanna fought a fire at a home on Edna Place, early Monday morning. The fire started in the back of the house. Two people were taken to the hospital for observation.
Lackawanna firefighters are upset that a firehouse is being closed Monday, an action that they say will put citizens and firefighters in danger.
Lackawanna Fire Chief Gary Strelczyk said, “There was no planning done with this, they went against the advice of the fire chief, the advice of the union, and they're endangering not only the citizens, but the firefighters. That's what we're so upset with. They're not even taking this under consideration. They don't seem to understand the gravity of the move they've made.”
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
