BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Jury selection got underway in the trial of Ali Mohamed Mohamud . He stands accused of beating his 12-year-old stepson to death last April in the family’s Buffalo home.

The judge, defense attorneys and prosecutors are interviewing jurors Thursday. There is a large volume of jurors being interviewed, because of the media coverage of the case and the gruesome crime scene video .

Defense attorneys say they want prospective jurors to be asked if they have courage to make a tough decision, after jurors in a recent high-profile case were criticized. The Dr. James Corasanti trial jury faced a lot of criticism after their decision last summer.

The trial is expected to go through the end of next week.
