BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Friends and loved ones gathered today to pray for the elderly deacon, Levi Clayton, who was injured in a horrifying robbery.
Today was Levi Clayton Day at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Last month, three men broke into Clayton's house and brutally attacked the 96-year-old man before making off with several valuables.
Cayton suffered from a broken jaw, however his friend Deacon Grady Thompson says he hasn't lost his joyful attitude. "He was doing well, we talked with him at the nursing facility and he had a joyful smile on his face. He understood and he know who we were and that's the most important thing," he said.
Police are still looking for the men who robbed and assaulted Clayton. They don't believe the crime was a random act.
