Local 212 to merge with NYC-based union

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Western New York union members of Local 212 voted Wednesday to merge with their sister Local 153, out of New York City. The Office and Professional Employees union represents 500 office and clerical workers at nine different employers in the area, including Blue Cross of Western New York.
The New York City-based union represents 16,000 people, and is said to bring additional clout in representation and new benefits to Local 153.
