TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Western New Yorkers are continuing to do their part to help out with the devastation Sandy left the East Coast.
The Red Cross partnered up with Suburban Propane to hold a blood drive today at Dunkin Donuts in Tonawanda.
The hurricane forced almost 380 Red Cross Blood drives to be cancelled which led to a shortage of blood and platelets.
Organizers say Western New Yorkers are turning out in droves to help.
The supervisor of the operation, Pat Schwarzmueller says the drive has been very responsive with a great turnout from the general public.
Another drive will take place tomorrow at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Lockport from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Two more drives will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trocaire College and one at the University of Buffalo North Student Union from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
