BLASDELL, N.Y. (WIVB) - It was a mixture of heart ache, grief and pride as the nation paused to honor the brave men and women who have perished in the line of duty.
Hundreds attended services for the 31st National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland
Eighty five names were added to this year's list of fallen heroes, including Jarret Elam's.
The 26 year old from the Big Tree Fire Department died back in 2011 after suffering a stroke during training.
Elam had been a member of the southtowns department for less than two years.
