ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Monday was a very difficult day for the family of a young teenager killed in a hit-and-run crash last week, allegedly by a drunk driver.

At his funeral Monday morning, there was a huge outpouring of support at the funeral mass for Lancaster teen Bryce Buchholz at St Gabriel's Church in Elma.

Family members and hundreds of friends came to the church wearing orange, his favorite color. The 14-year-old 8th grade student at Lancaster Middle School was struck and killed on Lake Avenue by an alleged drunk driver while riding his bike home from a school concert.

Police say the driver, 23-year-old Michael Ettipio sped off after. Benny Kirkland who witnessed the hit and run followed Ettipio to his home and brought him back to the scene.

Bryce was known by his friends as a person who could always make the smile and laugh. He was also an avid BMX rider and even competed locally.

Ettipio has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to keep right.

He's scheduled to be in court Wednesday.
