DEPEW, NY (WIVB) - A Depew man trusted his gut instinct and it paid off big time.
John Bunce says he only plays the lottery when he has a 'feeling.' He had that feeling on August 28th, and the retired corrections officers won a million dollars!
Bunce was taking his neighbor to the Tops on Broadway in Depew. She needed to buy eyedrops and he had the feeling he should buy a Cash Blast scratch-off ticket.
"I've got a grandson on the way. My boy, they live in Florida, so I'll be going down there when the baby arrives. [I'm] going to buy a new boat, probably a new Harley and whatever. Buy whatever I want and have fun with it," Bunce said.
Because this is a scratch-off win, Bunce doesn't get the million all at once. It's paid in 20 annual payments, and after withholdings, he'll get a check each year for $33,000.
