BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - It's a much-needed face lift for the oldest home in south Buffalo.
Western New York Americorps teamed up with several other local groups to host a day of volunteering at 49 Buffum Street.
The 160 year old home was damaged in a fire last year.
Saturday, volunteers repaired fences, painting and did yard and roof work to repair that damage.
Patrick Metzger of WNY Americrops said, "The plan is that really, over the next two years, to restore it back to its original glory, and hopefully get it as sustainable and affordable housing, as well as a museum to kind of show the history of South Buffalo."
Buffalo Common Council member Mickey Kearns helped secure $25,000 for the restoration project.
