Man admits "BCUZ" graffiti tag

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Grand Island man pleaded guilty as charged, in connection to graffiti vandalism around Buffalo.

The District Attorney's Office says 25-year-old Richard Whitefield admits to using the graffiti tag "BCUZ" on a retaining wall near the Peace Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over the Scajaquada Expressway, and numerous public and private properties throughout the city.

Whitefield was arrested last week following a police detective's investigation. District Attorney Frank Sedita is praising the detective's efforts, saying graffiti vandals are rarely caught in the act.

Whitefield pleaded guilty as charged to two counts of felony criminal mischief, and two counts of making graffiti. He will be sentenced in April, facing a maximum prison sentence of one and one third to four years in prison for each felony count.
