BROCTON, NY (WIVB) - A man is facing a list of charges following a two car accident on Route 20 in the Village of Brocton Friday night.
After arriving on the scene Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies realized that Jerry Bentham, who had allegedly rear ended another vehicle, had fled the scene on foot. He didn't make it far however, and deputies were able to catch up with him a short time later.
Deputies allege that Bentham did not have permission to be driving the car that he crashed and that he was driving while intoxicated. Bentham is now facing charges of DWI, aggravated DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation in the 1st degree, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk with non-life threatening injuries.
