BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown named Ellen Grant, PhD the deputy mayor, Thursday afternoon.
Grant, who currently serves as the Erie County Commissioner of Senior Services and was previously the director of Cornerstone Manor, the women and children's program of the Buffalo City Mission, will serve as a liaison to the Buffalo Board of Education, area colleges and universities.
Mayor Brown cited Grant's more than 25 years of experience in health, behavioral health and managerial experience as further reasons for selecting her to be the deputy mayor.
Grant, who was born and raised in Buffalo, will assume her duties on December 17.
