ELMA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Two Depew men are facing charges, after Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies say they took scrap metal from a restaurant and claimed they had permission to take it. Deputies stopped a vehicle that was pulling out of Cove Restaurant’s parking lot around 3:05 a.m. Monday, to determine why the vehicle was there.
Deputies say they found the scrap metal inside the vehicle, and 24-year-old David Tanyi and 24-year-old Jason Meyer both said they had permission from the business owner to take the scrap metal. Authorities contacted the owners, who said no one had permission to take anything from the property.
Tanyi and Meyer were both arrested for petit larceny and trespass. They are due in Town of Elma Court at a later date.
