BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Seventeen school-based health programs in New York state are in line for more than $5 million in federal funding.

The National Assembly on School-Based Health Care says Wednesday the New York centers are among 197 programs being awarded more than $80 million through the Affordable Care Act.

The grants are meant to help improve student access to primary, mental and dental health care by allowing recipients to establish new sites or upgrade existing ones.

New York recipients are each in line to receive from $14,000 to $500,000. They include the Whitney Young Jr. Health Center in Albany; Chautauqua County Chapter of NYSARC in Jamestown; Middletown Community Health Center; Rochester General Hospital; Schenectady Family Health Services; and the North Country Children's Clinic in Watertown.
