ANGOLA, N.Y. (WIVB) - Military children, who are currently coping with the stress of war, are enjoying Operation Purple Camp. The summer camp program is offered by the National Family Military Association.
Over 120 military children are enjoying the camp that is open to children of active duty, National Guard or Reserve service members from the Navy, Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or the Commissioned Corps of the US Public Health Service and NOAA.
The camp, taking place at Pioneer Camp and Retreat Center in Angola, is offering activities including the landing of a black hawk helicopter, sleeping out in tents, cooking out, hands-on time with military vehicles, a ropes course and more. The campers also can come together and help each other through their struggles.
