SINCLAIRVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) - One firefighter was sent to the hospital after fighting an early-morning fire in Chautauqua County.
Seven volunteer fire departments found the blaze at 7 a.m. on Hooker Road in Sinclairville. The firefighters were able to save the house, while heavy damage was contained to one room.
The fire was contained to a second floor bedroom, where the home's wood-burning furnace's chimney was located. The fire was ruled accidental, due to combustibles being too close to the chimney.
A woman who was asleep in another room on the second floor of the home woke up after several smoke detectors were activated inside the house. She escaped without injuries.
