Nesting falcons halt historic plan

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A pair of nesting peregrine falcons has halted plans for tours of a historic Buffalo train station.

The Central Terminal Restoration Corp. had planned to let visitors up into the art deco terminal's office tower Sunday for a rare view from the 13th floor.

But Department of Environmental Conservation inspectors say the peregrine falcons that have nested there the past two years are back again and have produced eggs.

The tour's organizers say they canceled Sunday's plans to lessen the stress on the territorial birds. Another tour is planned for October.

The Central Terminal Restoration Corp. is raising money to restore the terminal, which sat vacant for more than 20 years until preservation efforts began in 1997.
