BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some families experiencing financial difficulty can now turn to food stamps to help feed their pets.
Marc Okon started PetFoodStamps.org , a non-profit organization in New York State. The program has expanded nationwide and is quickly gaining in popularity.
Okon explained the service, "There is no cost to be in this program whatsoever. If you sign up and are approved, you get your delivery of pet food at no cost to you, no cost for the food, no cost to the delivery. Basically you go on the website, you fill out the application and then three weeks from now you'll be contacted and verified. Should you be verified, you will be getting a delivery of pet food from Petflow.com. for a six-month term and then you'll have to reapply in six months."
Interested people can fill out an application at www.petfoodstamps.org
